Tigers beat sloppy Minnesota Twins five runs to two

Tigres derrotan cinco carreras por dos a unos desprolijos Mellizos de Minnesota

Eric Haase and Víctor Reyes homered and the Detroit Tigers took advantage of a sloppy Twins game, defeating prospect Simeon Woods Richardson for a 5-2 victory over Minnesota on Sunday.

Woods Richardson made his major league debut, five days after his 22nd birthday, as the youngest pitcher in the majors this season. The Twins’ defense did him no favors, committing three errors in the first inning.

The Tigers took advantage of two errors by catcher Ryan Jeffers and a blunder by first baseman José Miranda, along with a single by Miguel Cabrera, a wild pitch, a walk and a stolen base, to make two runs.

Woods Richardson (0-1), acquired in July 2021 from Toronto in a trade for pitcher José Berríos, allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits in five innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out three.

For the Twins, Puerto Rican Carlos Correa 3-2 with an RBI. Gilberto Celestino scored a run.

For the Tigres, Venezuelans Miguel Cabrera 4-2 with an RBI and Víctor Reyes 3-1 with a run scored and an RBI.
