Tiago Pereira Claims Maiden Challenger Doubles Title at Home Maia Open

Portuguese tennis player Tiago Pereira claimed his first career ATP Challenger doubles title on Saturday at the Maia Open, achieving the feat on home courts alongside partner Alexander Donski.

The 21-year-old Pereira and his Bulgarian partner defeated top-seeded opponents Theo Arribage of France and Nino Serdarusic of Serbia.

They triumphed in straight sets on the clay courts of Maia. The final score was 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). Arribage was the defending champion in the doubles category.

This victory marks Pereira’s inaugural Challenger trophy, earned in the final tournament of the season and before a home crowd.

Pereira had previously reached Challenger finals in Barletta earlier this year and in Segovia in 2024.

In the singles competition, Slovakian qualifier Andrej Martin, ranked 393rd globally, defeated French qualifier Lilian Marmousez (ATP #355). Martin won in three sets: 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Martin is scheduled to face Austria’s Elmer Moller, the third seed (ATP #147), in the final on Sunday. Moller secured his spot by beating Spain’s Daniel Mérida (ATP #170) 6-3, 6-4.
