Thunderstorms: impressive floods in Agen

A violent storm accompanied by torrential rains, hit the Lot-et-Garonne, causing significant flooding in Agen, in particular.

The department, which was placed on orange vigilance by Météo France, suffered particularly heavy rainfall. According to La Chaîne Météo, Agen even experienced a record of rain. “This Wednesday evening between 7:00 pm and 9:50 pm, in less than 3 hours, it has just fallen the equivalent of 18% of the annual rainfall,” she notes as well.

As a result of these rains, the city was flooded in many places.

Images published on social networks bear witness to the violence of the phenomenon, showing streets under water and cars partly submerged.

According to our information, the roof of a hypermarket in Boé, a neighboring town, partially collapsed under the weight of the water.

On Twitter, the municipality of Agen specifies that the firefighters are hard at work to secure the population. “The Town Hall is mobilized to relocate the disaster victims”, she also adds.
