Family Home Catches Fire in Salto, Three Injured

A devastating fire broke out in a family home in the Quiroga neighborhood of Salto, Uruguay, early Friday morning, leaving three people injured, including a woman who suffered serious burns.

Firefighters Respond to Major Blaze

Firefighters were called to the scene after a "major" fire was reported at the family home. According to police, people were trapped inside the building, and officers had to break a fence to rescue them.

Woman Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

A 35-year-old woman suffered the worst injuries, with third-degree burns to her face and arms. She was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the National Burn Center due to her critical condition.

Two Others Injured, House Destroyed

Two other people, a 39-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, were also injured in the fire. A police officer who helped rescue the victims was hospitalized for burns to his hand. The house was completely destroyed by the fire and smoke.

Investigation Underway

The Scientific Police are conducting a survey of the site, and the Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and how it started.
