The Rome Court of Appeal has sentenced three men who gave the fascist salute during a homage to Nazism at the German cemetery of Cassino in central Italy to six months in prison with a suspended sentence.
The defendant made the fascist gesture and shouted “Honor the fallen of the German ally and the Social Republic!” and “Italy, proletarian and fascist!”, reports the Italian newspaper “Il Fatto Quotidiano”.
The event took place seven years ago to honor the soldiers of Nazi Germany who died on the Cassino front in World War II and to promote the “revolution.”
The incident was captured in a video broadcast on the Internet for propaganda purposes. The three men, aged between 50 and 60, called on all “network comrades” to join a new movement, which they described as “fascist”.
The three defendants were acquitted in the first instance before the Court of Cassino “because the fact does not exist”, since the judge considered that it was not a concrete action to rebuild the fascist party, but that it was a demonstration of their personal ideas. . The verdict was overturned on this appeal.
