The final match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024 will be played on February 11 between the Indian Under-19 team and the Australian Under-19 team. Earlier, ICC announced the names of the players shortlisted for the Player of the Tournament award for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament. While three players from the Indian team have been given a place, two players from South Africa and one player each from the Australian, Pakistan and West Indian teams have been shortlisted.
Apart from captain Uday Saharan, these two players were also shortlisted
The Indian U19 team has put in an unbeatable performance so far in this World Cup en route to the finals. The main reason for this was that all the team’s players played their roles better on the field. Apart from India Under-19 captain Uday Saharan, Musheer Khan and Saumya Pandey also have a place in the shortlist for the ICC Player of the Tournament. While Uday has scored 389 runs in 6 games so far in this tournament at an average of 64.83, Musheer Khan has also scored 338 runs in 6 games at an average of 67.60. Saumya Pandey has shown his magic with the ball, picking up 17 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 8.47.
These players came from South Africa and Australia
If we talk about the shortlisted players from teams other than India, Quen Mafaka and Steve Stolk from South Africa got the spot. Additionally, Australia Under-19 captain Hugh Wiebgan is also in the running for Player of the Tournament honors. Ubaid Shah from Pakistan and Jewel Andrew from West India have a place in this list.
