Thomas Partey Denies Rape, Sexual Assault Charges; Ex-Arsenal Star On Bail

Thomas Partey in court

The somber halls of Southwark Crown Court in London saw a familiar face from the football world yesterday. Thomas Partey, once a key midfielder for Arsenal, now plays for Villarreal. He appeared before the court to face very serious charges. Partey denied accusations of raping two women. He also denied sexually assaulting a third person.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian player pleaded not guilty to all counts. Following his plea, the court released him on bail. However, this legal journey is far from over. The actual trial itself is still a long way off. It is currently scheduled to begin on November 2, 2026. This means a significant wait for all parties involved.

Partey’s bail comes with strict conditions. He must always notify the police if he needs to leave Spain. That is where he currently lives. He is also forbidden from contacting the alleged victims in any way. The alleged crimes, which include five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, reportedly happened between 2021 and 2022. During that time, the African midfielder was playing for Arsenal.
