Going to nil in a cricket match is not a new thing but if 6 players from a team go to nil in a match then it is a very big and amazing thing. This has happened 5 times in ODI cricket. The special thing is that 3 of these 5 times this feat is registered in the name of the batsmen of the Pakistani national team. It is the only team that has lost 6-6 players to nil in 3 ODIs. When has this happened? Read here..

This incident first occurred in an ODI match played on May 25, 1987 in Birmingham. In this match, 6 players from Pakistan went out for zero. The English bowlers did not even allow Mudassar Nazar, Mansoor Akhtar, Manzoor Elahi, Salim Yusuf, Wasim Akram and Tausif Ahmed from Pakistan to open the account. However, due to excellent tackles from Javed Miadad and Rameez Raja, Pakistan had crossed 200. England won this match by 1 wicket with 3 balls to spare.

On February 25, 1993, Pakistani batsmen once again repeated this feat. Batting first, in the Cape Town ODI, Pakistan dropped to just 43 runs. 6 Pakistan team players also couldn’t open the account this time. West Indies won this match by 7 wickets.

On June 16, 2012, also in Colombo ODI, 6 players from Pakistan returned to the arena at zero. Batting first, Sri Lanka had scored 243 runs in this match, in response the Pakistan team scored 199 runs. In this match, Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sohail Tanvir and Umar Gul were dismissed without scoring any runs.

The South African and Zimbabwean teams have also lost their 6-6 players to nil once each. On January 22, 2002, at the Sydney ODI, Australian bowlers returned 6 South African bowlers to the pavilion without opening their account. On November 20, 2008, Sri Lanka sent 6 Zimbabwean players to the arena for nil in the Harare ODI match.
