This time Rahul Gandhi is at the doorstep of the Supreme Court

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi went to the Supreme Court after not getting relief from the Gujarat High Court in the defamation case for insulting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He filed a petition in the court.

The Gujarat High Court did not stay his conviction in the criminal defamation case. As a result, he was disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha earlier this year.

Addressing an election rally in Karnataka in 2019, former Congress president Rahul said ‘How Modi is the common title of all thieves’. After this, BJP leaders and activists were angry about this. A BJP leader later filed a defamation case against him.

Rahul feels that the suspended Lok Sabha will pave the way for his reinstatement as a member of Parliament. So he petitioned the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the High Court rejected his plea. At that time, the court commented that purity in politics is the need of the hour. The court also said that Rahul Gandhi has sought a stay on the conviction for absolutely non-existent reasons.

In total, 10 cases are pending against Rahul.
