Afghanistan cricket team vs Indian team
Afghanistan's star player Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been expelled from the Big Bash League and has returned home. He plays for the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL. He was also not available for selection in the game against the Melbourne Stars. His team faced defeat by 8 wickets in this match. Mujeeb is out of the Big Bash League for one important reason.
Mujeeb from the BBL
The Afghanistan Cricket Board had stopped the central contracts of Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq. These players themselves had expressed their desire to get out of the central contract. Apart from not allotting them a place in the central contract, the board also decided not to issue No Objection Certificate (NOC) to these players for the next two years. This also eliminated the possibility of these players playing in other leagues. Due to a lack of a NOC, he had to leave the BBL.
Might get a chance in the series against India
But even after the Afghanistan Cricket Board's decision, Mujeeb played two games for the Melbourne Renegades. After the ACB decision, Naveen Ul Haq and Fazal Haq Farooqui had expressed their desire to play for the country. Because of this, he got a place in the T20 series against UAE. Mujeeb had no chance in this series. But he could get a chance to win the series against India.
Afghanistan Cricket Board did not announce any NOC
The ICC itself had clarified in April 2022 that an NOC would be required for every player to play in a foreign league. It doesn't matter whether he has a contract with the board or not, and it doesn't matter whether he has retired from the game. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided not to give Mujeeb, Fazal and Naveen an NOC for 24 months. For this reason he is not eligible to play in foreign leagues. Mujeeb has taken 1 wicket in 1 Test, 101 wickets in 75 ODI matches and 56 wickets in 43 T20 International matches for Afghanistan.
