BlackBerry models were totally productivity oriented

Once known as a benchmark in high-end productivity-oriented smartphones, BlackBerry in recent years has been losing strength and presence in the global mobile terminal market.

However, the American company Onward Mobility acquired the brand, having also tried to make BlackBerry once again a protagonist in the smartphone segment. But he was unsuccessful and now appears to have made a final decision.

Onward Mobility has already officially announced that it will not launch any more terminals under the BlackBerry brand and that this brand will have reached the end of its life. More: the company also revealed that it will stop promoting the project, after “the license to use the BlackBerry name has been revoked”.

Apparently, the revocation of the license was due to the decision of the previous Canadian holder of BlackBerry to have sold a portfolio of patents related to networks and mobile devices.

Onward Mobility leaves words of thanks to users

In August 2020, Onward Mobility announced that it would launch a new BlackBerry model that never saw the light of day. Later, in August 2021, the company announced its intention to launch another terminal that would even have 5G communications, but said smartphone was never launched.

Now, the US company seems to have concluded that BlackBerry has reached a point of no return that could lead to its demise. In a public statement, the company left words of thanks to users: “All of us at Onward Mobility are incredibly grateful to the community of loyal users for this opportunity.”
