JAYANT YADAV AND NAVDEEP SAINI ADDED TO ODI TEAM FOR SERIES AGAINST SOUTH AFRICA

The first game of the three-game ODI series between India and South Africa will be played from January 19. There was bad news for the India team before the start of the series, after spinner Washington Sundar was found to be Kovid positive before leaving for South Africa, after which the BCCI announced that they would send Jayant Yadav to South Africa as their replacement. With this, Navdeep Saini will endorse Mohammad Siraj.

According to a BCCI press release, “Indian player Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against South Africa after he tested positive for COVID-19 during camp in Bangalore. Sundar was called up on Wednesday for the ODI members was going to go to Cape Town with him and join the rest of the team before the ODI series which starts on January 19. The All India Senior Selection Committee appointed Jayant Yadav in place of Sundar.

Jayant played the only ODI match for India in 2016 against New Zealand.

Considering the injury of Mohammad Siraj, who was injured during the second Test against South Africa, BCCI has decided to send Navdeep Saini on the tour as their backup.

“The committee also included fast pitcher Navdeep Saini in the ODI team as a backup for Mohammad Siraj, who is still recovering from his hamstring injury,” the BCCI said.
