Sri Lankan star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has given up his international Test career. Hasaranga played four test matches in the game’s longest format before retiring. He took four wickets in his Red Ball career and hit 196 runs over the course of half a century.

Has debuted in 2020

The broken-leg bowler made his Test debut against South Africa at Centurion in December 2020. Their last game was in April 2021 in Pallekele. Hasaranga is one of the best spin bowlers in the world in white ball cricket, especially T20Is. He played a key role in Sri Lanka’s overwhelming victory at the 2022 Asian Cup. He took 9 wickets in 6 games to become the second highest wicket-taker of the tournament behind India’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar (11).

Hasaranga also took the most wickets at the T20 World Cup 2021. For Sri Lanka he took 16 wickets in 8 games. At the same time, he recorded 15 wickets in 8 games at the 2022 World Cup. In the recently completed ODI World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe, he recorded 22 wickets in just seven games. In the final of this tournament, the Sri Lankan team won the cup by beating the Netherlands. Hasranga’s role will also be very important in the upcoming Asian Cup and World Cup.
