New Delhi. Fast pitcher Ravi Kumar, who is doing amazing in the ICC U19 World Cup, will be seen playing in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. The Bengal team management are keen to test Ravi Kumar at Ranji this season. Let us tell you that the Bengal team will start their Ranji campaign in Cuttack on February 16.

It has emerged that veteran batsman Wriddhiman Saha will be available for at least the opening game of the Ranji Trophy, if not the first two. After which he will join the Indian team ‘Bio-bubble’ for the first test in Mohali.

Bengal is placed in Elite Group B along with Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Baroda and the team will depart for Cuttack on February 10, which will also include U-19 World Cup player Ravi and batsman and goalkeeper Abhishek Porel. Former India starter and Bengal U-19 head coach Devang Gandhi welcomed the idea as the senior state selectors and team management decide to include Ravi Kumar in the senior team.

“Any coach would get the satisfaction of a junior player joining the elite team. Coaches just want talented players to move in the right direction. “If Ravi and Abhishek Porel make it to Ranji’s team, no one will be happier than me,” he said.
