Thieves Rob Barra de Carrasco Pharmacy, Steal $45,000 in Cash at Gunpoint

Two masked robbers, one reportedly armed, stormed a pharmacy in Barra de Carrasco, Ciudad de la Costa, around 9 pm on Wednesday. The thieves specifically targeted cash stored in bags at the back of the store, bypassing the cash registers. Employees were threatened and forced to hand over approximately $45,000.

A Calculated Heist

The robbers appeared to know exactly what they were after. They headed straight for the stored cash, indicating prior knowledge of the store’s layout. This wasn’t a random smash-and-grab; it was a planned operation. No merchandise was taken, only the cash in the bags. The robbers fled towards Montevideo after securing the loot.

Authorities Investigate

The incident occurred at a pharmacy on Rambla Tomás Berreta, near Avenida Giannattasio, in Canelones Department, just a few meters from the Montevideo border. Fortunately, no shots were fired, and no one was injured during the robbery. The police are now investigating the heist, trying to determine how the robbers knew about the stored cash.

No other details about the suspects or their vehicle were released. The investigation aims to uncover the extent of the robbers’ planning and whether they had inside help. The pharmacy’s location and the timing of the heist are being scrutinized for potential leads.
