The Ministry of Culture, the Office of Commerce, Promotion and Investment in the Dominican Republic (OCPIRD) and the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) announced the realization of the Santo Domingo Hollywood International Film Festival (HIFF), a cultural and tourist event whose objective is the promotion of the national and international film industry.
The film conference, which will bring together renowned actors, producers, directors, screenwriters, businessmen, investors, film distribution chains and personalities linked to the global film industry in the Dominican capital and tourist areas of the country, will take place in mid-2022 .
The event was announced during a press conference, in which the Minister of Culture and members of the festival’s organizing committee, the OCPIRD and the DGCINE were present.
James Peng Fei Wang, Executive President of the Organizing Committee of the Santo Domingo Hollywood International Film Festival, stated: “In addition to us, commissions from different countries in Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe and America are participating in the organization, working hand in hand to raise the prestige, elegance and international reputation of the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic will go to the world and the world will know the Dominican Republic ”.
On the other hand, Richard Wu, director of the OCPIRD, affirmed that they will spare no effort or resources to carry out a festival at the height of other famous ones that take place in different countries of the world, since there are great entrepreneurs in Asia, Europe and America working in this event.
“The Santo Domingo Hollywood International Film Festival directly or indirectly promotes the development of film and television culture, the regional economy and the tourism industry of all South American countries, rewarding outstanding film and television works,” added Wu. .
Influencing this idea, Minister Carmen Heredia wished the Santo Domingo Hollywood International Film Festival the greatest success, “which will be a boost for economic, tourist and social development, as well as improving the image, projection and influence of the country. Likewise, this is going to be a magnificent opportunity to show that in the Dominican Republic films are made, film is interested and film is supported ”.
According to its organizers, the Dominican Republic is a country that has all the conditions to hold the Hollywood International Film Festival (HIFF), since it is strategically located in a privileged geographical area, has good technological communications, air and maritime transport, and, in addition , has a long cultural history and tourist attractions.
