They will finance US$1.1 million to reinforce the disaster prevention and mitigation plan

The Agency for International Development through the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (USAID-BHA, in English) and World Vision Dominican Republic, will finance $1,140,000 to materialize aplan to strengthen national and local capacities to prepare for emergencies and disasters.

This plan will be implemented in coordination with the agencies of the National Emergency System such as the Emergency Operations Center (COE), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the mayor’s offices, the Seibo government, among others.

The main purpose of this action is improve the capacity for prevention, preparation, response and recovery in the face of emergencies and disasters caused by the threats to which the country is exposedsuch as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, among others, as part of the “Disaster Risk Reduction Policy and Practice".

For this purpose, the national system for child protection will be strengthened, including access to inclusive and quality education in the prioritized locations of El Seibo, Miches, San Cristóbal and Bajo de Haina; in alliance with the Government, mayors, community leaders, churches and stakeholders that will respond to disaster risk management, such as NGOs.
