Various trade and trade promotion organizations Haiti and the Dominican Republic they made a meeting in order to strengthen strategic alliances between institutions in the sector of both nations to explore best practices that contribute to the increase of formal binational exchange.
Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), in collaboration with the Dominican Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Production (Fedocamaras), the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Haiti (CCIH), the American Chamber of Commerce of Haiti (Amcham), the Chamber of Commerce of Agriculture and Professionals of Haiti (Chagha) held various meetings with directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo; the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Dajabón, as well as with representatives of the Dominican private sector in Santiago RodrÃguez – Monción.
Vice President of Fedocamaras, Antonio Ramosmaintained that currently Dominican companies are investing in business operations in Haiti to produce a wide variety of products to be marketed both in Haiti and in the Dominican Republic.
The executive director of the Haitian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCHI),Beatrice Ilias,He said he was aware of the need to increase trade between both nations and assured that every day binational trade is being strengthened and increased.
The deputy executive director of Caribbean Export and director of the Haiti-Dominican Republic Binational Program, Leonel Nautdeclared that this meeting between business representatives of both nations is the sample of the commitment to maintain dynamism and strengthen good trade practices between both nations.
The sustained activities were the product of financial support from the European Union channeled through the trade and private sector support component of the Haiti-Dominican Republic Binational Programunder the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), implemented by Caribbean Export.
This initiative is part of the actions of the strategy that seeks to improve private-private binational dialogue, as well as improve the competitiveness of Haitian and Dominican companies with a view to consolidating institutional cooperation between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Haiti-Dominican Republic Binational Cooperation
The Binational Cooperation Program, Coexistence, is led in the Dominican Republic by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD), and in Haiti by the Office of the National Authorizing Officer of European Funds (BONFED, in French).
It is financed by the European Union within the framework of the Caribbean Regional Indicative Program (PIR) of 11moEuropean Development Fund (EDF).
