They propose to train students on solid waste management

The deputy of Santo Domingo Este, Juan José Rojas, requested, by means of a resolution to the Executive Power, that the Minister of Education be instructed to prepare educational policies that aim to ensure that students in public and private schools learn to drive safely. “properly and safely” solid waste.

The also pre-aspiring mayor for the Santo Domingo Este municipality explained that his request is due to the fact that it is a responsibility of the State to promote public policies that promote the protection of the environment, one of the main axes being the correct handling of waste, which which, in his opinion, is an issue of vital importance for the preservation of the ecosystem.

Likewise, the perremeista leader argued that the classification of solid waste from schools would be an effective practice to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and that it could also promote the participation of young people, motivating them to be part of a sustainable model of circular economy.

“Learning to separate solid waste helps them understand the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling waste and makes them agents of change for a more sustainable future, it makes them recognize the importance of proper waste management, and these habits sustainable can continue in their daily life”, assured Juan José.

In this sense, he said he had no doubts that this action carried out from the classroom would reduce the amount of pollutants released into the environment and would stimulate the environmental awareness of young students about caring for it.
