“They hid me behind the piano”: Olympe from The Voice victim of grossophobia

Olympe will be back this Saturday, September 18 in the All-Stars version of The Voice. Revealed to the general public on the TF1 show in 2013, the singer confides in having been a victim of grossophobia.

“At The Voice, I was 68 kilos, I always had a developed pelvis, that’s in my DNA, in my body type. And I was told: “It would be good if you lost a little weight”. I was told: “It’s still pictures so if you can lose 2-3 kilos, that would be cool”. After that, it doesn’t matter, I could hear it, ”he told the microphone of L’Instant De Luxe for Télé Star on September 17.

“I did not dare to impose myself”

“The artistic team following me after the show asked me to lose weight again, so I went on a diet again, except that I deprived myself so I gained more weight. Afterwards, I went on a diet again so I gained even more weight. I lose very quickly but I recover very quickly, ”he lamented, adding that these remarks seriously affected his self-confidence. “I focused more after The Voice on my weight than on the music, I dared not impose myself,” he said.

“I was told that I was too fat, that they were ‘obliged to put me behind a piano so that I could be on TV’. That the TV producers no longer wanted me because I was too fat, ”he had already told Télé-Loisirs a few months ago. “I was there to make music and they only talked to me about my physique. I know that I chose to evolve in an image environment but we don’t all have to be models, be 1m90 and have abs to do this job. Today’s producers and managers always have these standards in mind and abandon the music itself. For me, there was a lot of disillusionment after The Voice but it’s still a great job ”.

“More attacked on my physique than on my homosexuality”

Olympe also tells that he had been asked not to talk about his homosexuality at the time of his appearance in The Voice.

“It was my artistic team who told me not to talk about it, because it was at the time of the wedding for all. Honestly, I was more attacked on my physique than on my homosexuality “, analyzes the young man today who specifies to have” never had any problem to display his sexual orientation “.
