The Road Law Control Unit (Codevial), attached to the Military and Police Commission (Comipol) of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, managed to paralyze, notify, dismantle and demolish 381 works that violated the right of wayactions that are projected to save billions of pesos to the Dominican State.
Codevial, in which some 100 men duly released, is in charge of monitoring and supervising the trunk roads, in order to eliminate irregular construction of homes, businesses, informal crossings or other works that could cause accidents on these important roads, says a note from the entity.
The Comipol director, General Rafael Vásquez EspÃnola, said that of the paralyzed works, 155 in total, 59 were in the North region29 in the South, 31 in the East, 10 in the Circunvalación Santo Domingo, 19 in the Northeast, and seven on Avenida Ecológica.
The official stressed that 22 works in the North were demolished and dismantled; 11 in the East, 80 in the Santo Domingo beltway, and one in the Northeast, for a total of 114.37 illegal accesses to the roads were closed, which in one way or another had a significant impact on the number of traffic accidents.
