They confirm increases in cement prices; increase of RD$30 per case

The Association of Home Builders and Promoters (Acoprovi) confirmed that an increase in the price of cement will take place this week.

The institution informeddaily listthat this measure was notified to suppliers, builders, and home developers, as well as to a group of that entity.

Acoprovi informed this outlet that there is talk of an increase in RD$30 for the sheath of this material.

They also estimate that, with this new rise in the Housing Cost Index (ICDC)carried by the National Statistics Office (ONE), will rise by about 1.83%

They highlighted that with the slight increase registered in the last ICDV report, the reductions that occurred last August and September are eliminated.

"Unfortunately (the rise) comes at a time when the Dominican Central Bank announces that the construction sector has only grown 1.6% from January to November 2022"reported Acoprovi toDaily List.

They also commented that this sector ranks 16th among the productive sectors, after 2021 in which it experienced a growth of 23.4% where it came to occupy the number two position, for which it became one of the protagonists of the relaunch of the economy for that year.
