The Women and Sports Commission of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) called for “fostering love and respect to leave violence against women behind, as the International Day of Non-Violence Against Women is commemorated this Thursday.
Ana Montilla, a member of the Women and Sports Commission of the COD, proclaimed that it is time to definitively end all kinds of violence so that love and peace reign in our homes and in our society.
“Promote and respect, spare no effort so that violence against women ends once and for all. To the men who follow the message that the sacred scriptures send us to “offer love to all the citizens of the world,” said Montilla, who was accompanied by the immortal Juana Arrendel and Dinanyiris Fulcar, also members of the Women and Sports Commission of the COD.
Nelson José Ramírez, third vice president of the COD and acting president of that body, also spoke at the activity, who spoke of the importance of commemorating the International day of non-violence against women, calling to join the cry of no promote violence against women.
“We were all born from the womb of a woman,” so he urged everyone to sensitize ourselves and not promote this type of act that has done so much damage to society.
Niurka Herrera, director of the gender unit of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, stressed that it is time for families to start working from home and for parents to educate their children against this act.
"This is the right time for the statistics to start to go down. You have to work from home against this bad activity. I join and support this cry to end violence against women"Herrera said in the activity that took place on the esplanade of the COD this Thursday morning.
