CARACAS. – Venezuela’s government and opposition resumed contact to find consensus on setting the date of this year’s presidential election.
The meeting is part of a process sponsored by the National Assembly with a pro-government majority to develop a possible electoral plan.
There have been a series of dates proposed that will allow analysis and likely lead to a consensus,” said Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Congress and the government bloc.
The head of the opposition delegation to the negotiations, Gerardo Blyde, indicated that he only accepted the meeting because the mediators were present.
