Recently, the Kantar company released an analysis carried out on the smartphone market, during the fourth quarter of 2022. And the main conclusion that is drawn is that users are willing to pay a higher price for the innovation presented in the mobile terminals.

The sales achieved so far by the most advanced iPhone 14 models are one of the bases for this conclusion. According to Kantar, the iPhone posted market share growth in virtually every region the company tracked, notably the US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. In these countries, the brand recorded year-on-year growth of 2%.

According to this analysis company, one of the reasons for the success of the iPhone 14 Pro models is precisely the fact that they integrate exclusive functions, such as the Dynamic Island and the 48-megapixel sensor.

Kantar claims that Apple has given users enough reasons to pay higher prices for smartphones. “This is an industry where consumers are hungry for innovation, and the success of Apple’s Pro models demonstrates that consumers are willing to pay for that innovation.”

Google also has reason to celebrate. Recently, the CEO of the company, Sundar Pichai, claimed that the Pixel 7 series of smartphones is the “best-selling generation of the brand”. The Kantar company agrees and shows that this Google line registered record sales, in the fourth quarter of 2022, in the North American, Japanese, Australian markets and in some European countries.

Apparently underpinning this success of the new Pixel series is the fact that users want the pure state of the Android operating system.

The way of buying smartphones has changed due to the instability of the global economy

Regarding Samsung, Kantar pointed out that the brand’s Galaxy A13 model continues to be a success in Europe, having been the best-selling terminal in the fourth quarter of 2022 in this region.

Kantar also claims that the launch of the Galaxy S23 series last week reinforces Samsung’s position as a leading manufacturer of Android models.

Finally, the analysis company expects Samsung to focus its efforts on its premium equipment to increase profit margins that have been less favorable than expected.

Kantar ends this report by showing that the way consumers buy smartphones is now different. According to the company, due to the instability of the global economy, users are opting for payment methods in various installments.

In the United States of America, for example, PayPal’s Pay in 4 financing service is widely used by buyers.
