IND vs OFF
Ishan Kishan Wicketkeeping: The Indian team suffered a defeat by 5 wickets in the third match against Australia. In the third game, Australia captain Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, India scored 222 runs. But due to Glenn Maxwell’s storming century, the Indian team suffered a defeat. In this match, Indian team’s wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan made two errors due to which Team India lost.
Ishaan couldn’t catch the ball properly
The Australian team needed 43 runs to win in the last two overs. Then captain Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell were on the scoresheet for Australia. Akshar Patel bowled the 19th over and only 10 runs could be scored in the first three balls of that over. With this, Team India’s victory seemed assured, but on the fourth ball Ishan Kishan scattered the wickets and claimed stumping. When the third umpire looked at the replays, it was clear that Ishaan had collected the ball before the wicket. Because of this, the referee declared this ball a no-ball and Australia was awarded a free kick. Then Wade hit a six from the free kick. If Ishan had caught the legal throw correctly, India would not have conceded 7 runs.
After that, Glenn Maxwell went for the reverse scoop on the last ball of the 19th over but missed. Ishan Kishan could not catch this ball and the ball went to the boundary line. This gave Australia four runs as a bye. The Australian team scored a total of 22 runs in the 19th over. Because of his two errors, Australia’s victory was assured.
This is stipulated in the rules
According to MCC Rule 27.3.1, the wicketkeeper must be fully behind the wicket at the striker’s end when the ball is bowled. Unless the ball thrown by the bowler touches the striker’s bat or batsman or crosses the wicket. The wicketkeeper may only catch or stump behind the wicket. If the wicketkeeper violates the rule, the umpire must not award a ball to the next ball in accordance with Rule 27.3.2.
