In fact, the brands are responding to the needs shown by the market, which increasingly indicates the desire of users for a higher number of megapixels in the cameras integrated in smartphones.
The reason for this is simple: Smartphones are currently the most widely used cameras globally. For that reason, users look for models with better photographic attributes that provide higher quality images.
And if in the old days a single 16-megapixel camera was considered a top specification, now there are several smartphones that not only include more than one sensor on their rear panel, but some of these sensors already provide a resolution of 108 megapixels.
Motorola may be the first brand to present a smartphone with a 200-megapixel resolution sensor
But it looks like even this year, the wish for more megapixels will once again be granted, with at least three manufacturers having 200-megapixel smartphones on their release schedule.
Apparently, the first brand will be Motorola with its model now known as Frontier. According to several rumors circulating in the Web world, this terminal will be equipped with the 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor.
To get an idea of ​​the quality of this sensor, it is necessary to clarify that in a low light environment it can generate evidence of 50 megapixels. But apparently Motorola is not going to stay with this great novelty with the Frontier.
Recently, it was also revealed that the model may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus processor, which will be the successor to the latest chip released by Qualcomm and, based on TSMC’s 4nm process, will outperform its predecessor.
Xiaomi and Samsung may also go to the 200-megapixel mark
The other two brands that can also offer us this year with photo supersmartphones also come from the Asian continent, but from different countries. We are talking about the Chinese Xiaomi and the South Korean Samsung.
In fact, the latter produced one of the sensors already delivered to manufacturers and which is located at the 200-megapixel mark. But as usual, it will not be the first to reach the market with its own technology.
Apparently, Samsung will be able to equip its upcoming Galaxy S23 series of smartphones with its 200-megapixel sensor. But the new premium line of the South Korean will not arrive until 2023, possibly in the first quarter of the year.
Before that, the Chinese Xiaomi will be able to go ahead and present its first model with two hundred megapixels. The various rumors circulating in the web world suggest that the Xiaomi Mix 5 is equipped with the 200 megapixel Omnivision OVBOB sensor and that it will be launched during the year 2022.
After these three brands launch these models on the market, it is expected that the rest of the smartphone manufacturers will follow the same path. In fact, there are even those who assure that Apple itself will make a great leap in the megapixels that it will provide in its next iPhone 14.
