Poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, smoking… Not all excess is good for blood pressure.
And with age, the risks only increase: the heart tires and has to work harder to pump blood. In order to reduce its tension, a good diet is recommended. Certain plants are also particularly valuable in the fight against high blood pressure.
Broccoli
Broccoli would reduce bad cholesterol levels and have less calcium in the blood vessels if you eat around 45g per day. Also, this vegetable would prevent the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular disease. To benefit from the benefits of its antioxidants, the famous flavonoids, it is better to eat it raw or lightly cooked.
Garlic
Garlic is a super food. Its compounds help reduce atherosclerotic plaques that build up on the walls of the arteries, increasing the risk of stroke and hypertension. Garlic would thus particularly protect the aorta, the central artery of our body. To avoid suffering from its side effects, such as bad breath, it can be consumed in the form of capsules.
Almond
Like all oilseeds, almonds are high in fiber and improve digestion by regulating intestinal transit. But they also help fight against cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and even certain cancers. They are rich in potassium, magnesium and unsaturated fatty acids.
Artichoke
This perennial plant from the Asteraceae family contains many antioxidants. It is particularly rich in chlorogenic acid, flavonoids and polyphenols, which have the capacity to neutralize free radicals, molecules which are at the origin of oxidative stress and which accelerate the aging of tissues.
Cocoa
Also rich in flavonoids, cocoa helps the body overcome stress, the leading cause of hypertension. It also protects against heart disease.
