The Thermomix Sensor is the latest Vorwerk device for Thermomix customers. This is a grill thermometer that also helps when preparing cakes and bread. You can also use the Thermomix sensor without Use Thermomix. The Thermomix sensor is now available from Vorwerk for 149 euros (free shipping, delivery within 3 to 5 working days):
Vorwerk has quietly brought forward the start of sales of the sensor. When the Thermomix Sensor was presented in October 2023, Vorwerk claimed that the Thermomix Sensor would initially only be available exclusively from Thermomix representatives from November 6, 2023. And only for hosts of an experience cooking event for an additional fee. Only from summer 2024 The Thermomix sensor should then be available to all interested parties at a price of 149 euros. Vorwerk has quietly replaced this “summer date” with January 2024.
The Thermomix sensor can do that
With the new Thermomix sensor you can also use the guided cooking function outside of the Thermomix. This means you can always achieve the perfect cooking point, even without the Thermomix TM6, for example in the oven, in the pan or on the grill. This is reminiscent of the Meater products with which the Thermomix sensor competes. You can read more about the Meaters, which are available on Amazon from just 99 euros, in these two test reports:
As I said, you can also use the Thermomix sensor without a Thermomix TM6/TM5. In this case, you need the Cooking Center app from Vorwerk. The Thermomix sensor communicates via Bluetooth with the smartphone on which the Cooking Center app is installed.
During the cooking process, the sensor continuously transmits its data to the app. The sensor measures the temperature during cooking with two sensors: core temperature sensor and ambient temperature sensor. There is a battery in the Thermomix sensor. This charges when it is in the charging station.
How to use the Thermomix sensor
You put the Thermomix sensor in the middle of cake, bread, meat or fish and select the “Sensor” mode in the Thermomix TM6. The core temperature measured by the Thermomix sensor is displayed in the Cooking Center on the Thermomix TM6 display and in the Cooking Center app. As soon as the food needs to be removed from the oven, grill or stove, there is a notification. This procedure corresponds to that known from Meater, although Meater provides detailed selection aids in its app. However, the meater is not suitable for cakes or bread.
