Apparently Samsung is hoping that Sony’s imaging department will give the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models a better pictureCustom version of the popular Sony IMX890 sensor.

This 50MP sensor has been a key component in recent smartphones from BBK Electronics, like the OnePlus 11. However, Samsung plans to customize the IMX890 with its own “for Galaxy” branding, following in the footsteps of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 In addition, it has been adapted for the Galaxy series.

Details have also been leaked about a 1-inch sensor developed by Samsung. According to reports from @Tech_Reve On Twitter, this unnamed ISOCELL sensor will combine a 1/0.98-inch optical format with 0.8μm pixels and dual-pixel autofocus. The most striking thing is the alleged support for a 4x internal zoom, a capacity beyond what current ISOCELL sensors offer.

The same leaker on Weibo points out that this sensor will offer a focal length of 25mm, which is 1mm narrower than the ISOCELL HP2 on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Additionally, it is rumored that this sensor will reach an output resolution of 200MP, which has led to speculation that it will debut on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Although the release date of this unnamed sensor is still unknown, Samsung often introduces new ISOCELL camera sensors before the launch of its devices, as was the case with the ISOCELL HP2 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra this year.

These leaks and rumors suggest that Samsung is preparing major advances in imaging technology for its upcoming Galaxy S series. Users can expect significant improvements in camera quality and expanded features that could redefine the standard of mobile photography.
