The wind gives a truce at the Para Ski World Championships in Espot

The Para Ski World Championships that are held at the Catalan resort of Espot have started rolling this Monday after the start of the competition was affected by the strong winds that have blown in Espot in recent days and have forced the suspension of the first three days of competition.

With the wind giving a small truce, this Monday the competition began with the dispute of the Supergiant test in the different classes and categories of the modality.

In the Vision Impaired class, where the skiers go down with their guides who indicate them during the tour, the title in the female category has gone to the Italian Chiara Mazzel together with her guide Fabrizio Casal with a time of 1:00.40, while en the men’s category the title went to the Australian Neil Simpson together with his guide Rob Poth after completing the descent in a time of 56.66

In the Standing category, the Swedish Ebba Aarsjoe won gold in the women’s category with a time of 1:00.91, while the Austrian Markus Salcher won the men’s class with a time of 56.95.

The day closed with the Super G in the Sitting class, where the German Anna-Lena Forster won the world title after completing the descent with a time of 1:07.57, while Japanese Taiki Morii won gold in the men’s category by completing the descent in a time of 56.98.

The championships will continue this Tuesday, January 24, with the Alpine Combined event in the Espot Para Ski World Championships. who have overcome the wind to crown the first world champions.
