The Indian team for the upcoming 2023 Asian Cup is expected to be announced on August 21st. The team that will represent India’s challenge in this tournament can be announced after a meeting in Delhi on Monday. According to a PTI report, there will be a meeting in Delhi between national team selector and head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma. According to reports, the selection panel could also announce the first 15-man World Cup squad on the same day.

Big team is selected for Asian Cup

Meanwhile, it is decided to select a big team for the Asian Cup. 17 players will be selected for the Asian Cup, two more than the World Cup squad limit. A BCCI source told PTI that there is a possibility of a 15-man provisional World Cup squad being selected, to be submitted by September 5, but any changes could be made by September 27.

Will Bumrah be vice captain?

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to face stiff competition from all-rounder and current ODI vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who aspires to become Rohit Sharma’s vice-captain at the ODI World Cup and Asia Cup. A BCCI source said Bumrah is ahead of Pandya in terms of leadership age as he led the Test team in 2022.
