The Volta a Catalunya returns to Perpignan 67 years later

The 101st edition of the Volta a Catalunya, which will be held from March 21 to 27, 2022, will return 67 years later to the French city of Perpignan, capital Roussillon, where there will be a stage arrival and departure.

The test visited Perpignan for the last time in 1955 and the return has been possible thanks to agreement signed by the mayor of Perpignan, Louis Aliot, and the president of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Sports Association, Rubèn Peris.

In the hundred editions prior to the race, only two stage starts and two arrivals had been registered on the streets of Perpignan, in 1949 and 1955, with victories for the French Pierre Roux (1949) and for the Catalan Josep Mateo (1955).
