The Polish-flagged boat won the stage from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, is the current leader, and has been training in Denmark for days. “We are really looking forward to getting back to racing from Aarhus, especially after the excellent first leg we did from Alicante to Cape Verde in January,” said WindWhisper skipper Pablo Arrarte of Spain. “We are ready, the ship is ready. Our international crew has a strong Polish component and will see some changes, but the core will remain the same and we will be sailing with up to six under-30 sailors to give youngsters a great opportunity to improve their skills in a truly professional environment.”, he added.

Team JAJO is in second place and skipper Jelmer van Beek explained that “Aarhus is a great place, we know it well and it always gives us a special feeling, so we can’t wait to come back. For now we are in second place and we are happy, but there is still a long race to go and we only look forward. We will do everything we can to give the WindWhisper Racing Team a hard time and make it a tough race.”.

As for the third classified is the Austrian Ocean Racing powered by Team Genova: “I am delighted to be back in The Ocean Race. It was tough watching the IMOCAs race in the South Ocean without us, but we have used that time to work hard and improve our boat and sails. With these updates, we’re more competitive than ever and ready to hunt down the leaders. We are excited about the challenge ahead of us”, added skipper Gerwin Jansen.
