The Venezuelan opposition will meet with the president of Colombia before the forum on the crisis in Venezuela

An opposition delegation Unitary Platform of Venezuela will travel to Bogotá to meet with the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, before carrying out a forum that will take place next week to discuss the Venezuelan crisis.

The Unitary Platform has indicated that in this previous meeting will expose "the difficult situation" of the Venezuelansas well as "the necessary steps that must be taken so that in Venezuela we can rescue democracy through the holding of free, observable and verifiable elections, which comply with international democratic standards".

"We will also explain the need to specify the release of all political prisoners"continues the letter, in which they have also indicated that it is "It is essential to return to the negotiation process from which this delegation has never risen".

Thus, they have remarked that "This process is the tool that our country has today to put an end to the political, social and economic crisis through agreements that allow the institutional reconstruction of the State, the alternation in power, the rescue of the value of the vote, the cessation of the violation of Human Rights and the establishment of conditions that allow internal growth, creating solid foundations for sustainable and sustainable development".

The Colombian president announced at the end of March the convening of an international conference to seek dialogue between the Government of Venezuela and the opposition, under the premise of seeking "more democracy" and "zero sanctions".

Petro, who has restored relations with Venezuela since he came to power, proposed the organization of a new forum to try to unblock the negotiations regarding the neighboring country, with the intention of also bringing together other countries with influence in this crisis.

The Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, has applauded Petro’s initiative, "a good chance" for "overcome problems and turn the page on this torturous time of criminal sanctions" and, like his counterpart, hopes that in the future there will be "zero sanctions" against Venezuela.
