The US Supreme Court rejects Trump’s request for presidential immunity

He Supreme Court from USA has rejected a request from the special prosecutor Jack Smith in which he asked the court to decide whether the former President of the United States Donald Trump enjoy Presidential immunity as part of the federal case against him for attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

This Friday, the Supreme Court rejected Smith’s request to resolve the matter quickly and without comment The trial continues in the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals. As reported by NBC Nres, a meeting is scheduled for January 9th.

This comes after the federal judge Tanya Chutkanwhich is investigating the federal case against Trump for attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election, will temporarily halt the legal process precisely because of this legal challenge.

Back in December, Chutkan rejected a request from the former president claiming he was protected by presidential immunity. He also dismissed another motion claiming that the voter fraud case against him violated the First Amendment.

The tycoon’s faces four charges from conspiring against the United States, from prevent Congress from certifying the results achieved in the elections, from Conspiracy against the right to voteas well as for him attempt to prevent the certification of the minutes.

The tycoon pleaded not guilty of the four federal indictments last August. Prosecutors argue that Trump manipulated protesters by making them believe that then-Vice President Mike Pence could change the election resultswhich ultimately led to this Attack on the Capitol on January 6th.

Trump also faces another trial led by the Fulton County district attorney Fani Willisfor the election interference case in the state of Georgia during the 2020 elections, for which he is accused of 13 state charges.
