The United States confirmed equal pay between the men’s and women’s teams

The United States men’s and women’s teams will have equal pay after signing a historic agreement until 2028, US Soccer reported in an official statement on Wednesday. In this way, the United States became the first country affiliated with FIFA to grant salary parity for both soccer teams.

The deal was closed in February this year but was ratified in the day on Wednesday by an official statement it said the new agreement will run until 2028. The new commitment of US Soccer has four key points for parity between the two selected .

The first will be the same salary for the soccer players of the older teams in friendlies and World Cups and a division of half of the income from rights and sponsorship. Then, the members of those selected will have the same benefits such as child care and a similar retirement. The third point is the logistical support that both selected teams will receive in training camps, lodging, auxiliary personnel, travel and safe work environments. Finally, the male and female selected unions agreed on benefits in medical insurance, parental leave and financial support in case of serious injuries.

This agreement is the result of the work of the women’s team, which later won the title in the 2019 World Cup had filed a class action lawsuit against the federation’s discriminatory policy.
