The unemployed man tricked the police to go to jail

An unemployed man in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu gave false reports of bombs in railway stations and bus depots to the police in order to go to jail.

According to Indian media reports, police in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, received a bomb report at a railway station and a bus stand.

Police took action and arrested the false informer. Police have identified the man as 34-year-old Santosh Kumar, a resident of Mettu Panam in Coimbatore.

After his arrest, Santosh Kumar apparently told police he was struggling to make ends meet and called authorities with plans to get him regular meals when he was jailed.

The police said that in 2019 and 2021, Santosh Kumar also gave false information through phone calls. A case has been registered against them under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The judicial magistrate sent Santosh Kumar to jail.
