The UN Security Council passes a “lightweight” resolution to send aid to Gaza

The UN Security Council this Friday a Decision to promote the deployment of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip after a week of intensive negotiations.

The initiative presented by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had to be rewritten several times due to US objections, who has veto power in the organization. Washington ultimately abstained, as did Russia.
