The Trial Selection revalidates the world team gold

The Spanish team has won the competition by teams that this Thursday opened the 2021 UCI Trial World Championships, held until Sunday at the Mas de Bigues circuit in Vic. A result that confirms the hegemony of the Spanish team in a test where it has been proclaimed champion more than twenty times, the last three consecutively (2018, 2019 and 2021 ), andto that in 2020 it was not celebrated due to the pandemic.

The host team, made up of Borja Conejos, Julen Saenz de Ormijana, Vera Barón, Martí Riera and Daniel Cegarra, has carried out a very regular competition -with 770 total points- and it has clearly prevailed over the other ten teams that have taken part in the competition. The rider of the elite male category 26 ” Julen Saenz de Ormijana has led the national team, scoring 200 points. The team’s juniors, local Martí Riera and Daniel Cegarra, who have accumulated 160 points each, have also had an outstanding performance. The female representative Vera Barón has added 130 while the Madrilenian Borja Conejos, enrolled in the male elite 20 ”, it has registered 120 points after a zero in the last sector.

Spanish training has prevailed ahead of France, his great rival in the World Cup team competition, who has not been able to add more than 680 points. The French squad has been made up of the experienced Nicolas Vallee and Louis Grillon, the female Manon Basseville and the juniors Charles Chibaudel and Thomas Jeu. An error by the latter that has led to the disqualification has prevented the French from fighting for the victory, but they did overtake Germany, which has obtained the third position on the podium. World Champions Dominik Oswald and Nina Reichenbach have led the German team, alongside Oliver Widmann and Jan Welte.

The participants have made a single pass to an area with stone obstacles on uneven terrain before the gaze of the public that has come to the Catalan city to follow the best trial in the world. This Friday’s program will be made up of the junior 26 ” semifinals (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.), the junior 20 ” semifinals (11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and the women’s elite semifinals (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.). A total of 34 riders will take part in the junior competition -23 in the 20 ” category and 11 in the 26 ” category – while in the female category there will be 22 riders.
