The trial against Raphy Pina begins

The trial for possession of an automatic weapon against the Puerto Rican music producer Raphy Pina, manager of Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha, began this Monday in federal court in Hato Rey, in San Juan.

The process began after Judge Francisco Besosa denied the defense request of the owner of the record company Pina Records to dismiss the accusation for "bad behavior" of the Public Ministry.

Pina faces two charges: one for possession of an automatic weapon and another for possession of a firearm by a federal convict, since the producer was convicted in 2015 of bank fraud.

The producer, who is exposed to a maximum of ten years in prison for each of the charges, assured upon entering the court that he was "calm" and willing to "show up as always", according to local media.

It is possible that Daddy Yankee will be called to testify in the federal trial against Pina, since his name appears on the list of possible witnesses read by the judge.

The magistrate also read before the popular jury the name of Antulio "Kobbo" Santarrosa, who handles the character known as "La Comay" on the TeleOnce channel.

At the moment, it is unknown if Daddy Yankee and Santarrosa will be witnesses for the Public Ministry or for the defense of the producer.

Pina founded her record label in 1996 and has represented some of the most important artists in the reggaeton genre, including Nicky Jam, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.

He is also the manager of his fiancee, the famous Dominican singer-songwriter Natti Natasha, with whom he had a daughter this year.
