The team on the verge of removing Charles De Ketelaere from AC Milan

In a surprise turn in the transfer market, AC Milan appear to be on the verge of yet another exit. Charles de Ketelaere, who joined the team from Club Brugge last season, is close to leaving Milan and joining Atalanta on a loan with an option to buy.

AC Milan’s foray into the transfer market with Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini as sporting directors marked a milestone in De Ketelaere’s arrival, for which they paid €36m to Brugge. However, despite his potential as a Belgian midfielder and his outstanding performance in the Pro League with 25 goals and 20 assists in 125 appearances for Brugge, his time at Milan has not lived up to expectations.

AC Milan is about to complete a key attacking launch

After just a year at the Lombard club, AC Milan want to get rid of De Ketelaere. The youngster managed just one assist in 40 games last season, which fell short of the team’s expectations. With Milan having an ambitious transfer market, De Ketelaere’s place is limited and his departure seems inevitable.

In this regard, Atalanta has emerged as his possible target. According to Fabrizio Romano, both Milan and La Dea have reached an agreement for the midfielder. The proposal includes a €3m loan from AC Milan to Atalanta and a €23m purchase option. In addition, Milan ensures 10% of the revenue from a future sale of the player.

These numbers seem convincing for AC Milan, who have already invested heavily in other signings such as Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Samu Chukwueze and Noah Okafor, totaling more than €100m. The chance to revive De Ketelaere’s career is now in the hands of Atalanta, who see him as one of the most promising young talents in Belgian football.
