The Taliban captured the capital of Nimroz

The Taliban captured Afghanistan’s first provincial capital, seized control of Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province, and burned Dostum’s home in Sheberghan. The bombing of Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, by the Afghan Air Force, has caused widespread destruction. The director of the Afghanistan Media Center in Kabul and a former spokesperson for Ashraf Ghani were killed.

The Taliban captured Afghanistan’s first provincial capital, took control of Zaranj, the largest city in Nimroz province, Afghan forces offered no resistance, hundreds of comrades were released from prisons and customs headquarters on the border it is now controlled by the Taliban.

Intense fighting continues between the Taliban and government forces in the Afghan province of Jawzjan. According to Afghan media, the Taliban have set fire to the house of General Abdul Rashid Dostum in the capital, Sheberghan.

Dawa Khan, head of the Afghan government’s media and information center in Kabul, was also assassinated by the Taliban.

According to international media, the fighting between Taliban and Afghan forces intensified in Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province, and reached the police headquarters. Afghan forces carried out aerial bombardments on Lashkar Gah, which caused great destruction.
