Taliban leaders and representatives of the Indian government finally made formal contact, and high-level delegations from both sides met in Moscow.
According to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, India’s special envoy to Afghanistan JP Singh and others held talks with Afghan Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi and Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki and offered assistance to the Kabul government.
Zabihullah Mujahid said in his Twitter message that the two sides considered it necessary to consider each other’s concerns and improve diplomatic and economic relations. According to him, JP Singh, who is also the Joint Secretary in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, said that Afghanistan was going through a difficult situation and India was ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
India has also endorsed a statement issued by 10 countries following the Afghan conference in Moscow on Wednesday, acknowledging the Taliban rule in Afghanistan as a new reality.
