The Stars sign a pitcher, catcher and an outfielder

The Stars hired reliever Oliver Pérez, catcher Juan Graterol and outfielder Ramón Flores as imported players, their general manager Félix Peguero reported this Sunday.

Pérez is a veteran left-handed reliever with 20 years of experience in the Major Leagues, and who this year pitched in 7 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Mexican pitcher comes from acting in 22 games in his country, with the Tomateros de Culiacán team. His PCL was 2.79. In 19.1 innings, he allowed 15 hits. He with 15 strikeouts and 4 walks, one of them intentional. His won-lost record was 2-1.

Graterol is a catcher who comes from hitting .309 in the Venezuelan League, in his country, with Bravos de Margarita. His OBP was .345 and OPS .762. He has experience in the Dominican League, where he played last season in 9 games with the Toros del Este.

In the Major Leagues, the Venezuelan catcher has played with the Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins and Cincinnati Reds.

Flores is a Venezuelan left-handed hitter, who comes from hitting .296 in his country, with the Margarita Braves, a team for which he had a .395 on-base average and a .786 OPS. He ventured into the Major Leagues from 2015 to 2017 with the New York Yankees, MIlawuke Cerceros and Los Angeles Angels.

In the 2021-2022 winter season, he led the Venezuelan League in batting average (.416).

The Stars no longer have Venezuelans Edward Olivares (OF) and Enmanuel de Jesús (pitcher) on their roster, whose contracts with the club expired on December 30.

Nor do they have American reliever Buddy Baumann, whose contract with the club expired on December 22, the last date before the Christmas gap, in the tournament.
