Manchester United are in talks with Kobbie Mainoo’s representatives in the hope of agreeing a new long-term deal at Old Trafford. The midfielder, who has been in the Red Devils’ ranks since the age of nine, made his first-team debut last January and has since cemented his place in the starting squad.

Only 18 years old, Mainoo has been a revelation this season, making 13 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals. His rise has been rapid and he has developed into a key player under Erik ten Hag, starting in each of his nine Premier League appearances.

Mainoo, one of the big revelations of the season

Although Mainoo signed a new contract in February 2023, which runs until June 2027 with the option of a further 12 months, it is rumored that the club is preparing an improved offer for the young talent due to his impressive performances this season. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have submitted a contract proposal with a salary increase for Mainoo and discussions are ongoing with his representatives.

The young midfielder has shown his ability on the pitch, scoring his first goal in the FA Cup and then the Premier League, attracting interest from both club and national team. In fact, there have been suggestions that England manager Gareth Southgate is considering calling him up for upcoming internationals against Brazil and Belgium.

Additionally, Mainoo is eligible to represent Ghana and according to Randy Abbey, a member of the Executive Board of the Ghana African Football Federation, the African nation is keen to secure the services of the young talent at international level. With a promising future ahead of him, Mainoo is in the spotlight at both club and international level, and his development is being followed closely by fans and observers around the world.
