The Spanish Beach Tennis team makes history

The Spanish delegation formed by Antomi Ramos, Gerard Rodriguez, Saulo Tejada, Víctor Lopez, Eva Fernández, Sabrina Lopez, Omayra Farías, Ganesha Díaz and directed by the captain, Carles Vicens, reaps great results at the 2021 European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In the men’s doubles, Antomi Ramos and Gerard Rodriguez, reached the Semifinal losing to the Italians and European champions 2021 by a result of 1-6 / 3-6, however in third and fourth place they were opposed by Russian numbers 1 Nikita Burmakin and Sergey Kupsov 6-3 / 4-6 / 10-7 in the super tie break, achieving the bronze medal.

The second Spanish couple formed by Víctor Lopez and Saulo Tejada, lost in the quarterfinals against the same Russians Nikita and Sergey, 6-0 / 1-6 / 4-10, but remaining among the best 8 couples in Europe.

In the women’s doubles Eva Fernández and Omayra Farías lost in the first round against French numbers 1 Magali Garnier and Lisa Jamais 6-3 / 3-6 / 7-10 but clear champions came out in the consolation beating the French Pauline Mannarino and Bouchacourt 6-4 / 6-3 in the final.

The second couple Sabrina Lopez and Ganesha Diaz beat the second French couple Mannarino-Bouchacourt in the first round 1-6 / 6-4 / 10-4 but they lost in the round of 16 against Daria Churakova – Liudmila Nikoyan 1-6 / 1-6

In the Mixed Doubles our partner one Spanish Antomi Ramos and Eva Fernández are proclaimed champions beating in the quarterfinals the second Russian pair Liudmila Nikoyan and Nikolai Guryev 4-6 / 6-4 / 10-7, in the semifinals against the second Italian pair Diego Bollettinari – Ninny Valentini 7-6 (3) / 7-5 and in the final against Russian numbers 1, Nikita Burmakin – Daria Churakova 3-6 / 6-3 / 10-4

For the first time in the history of beach tennis that Spain is number 2 in the country rankings. The efforts of all the players paid off. Now the entire Spanish team will travel to Terracina, Italy where the world championship will be played in pairs.
