Electronic Arts’ popular life simulation game, The Sims 4, has released a new free content update that integrates authentic West African cultural elements, developed in collaboration with community groups and players.
The update introduces diverse Build/Buy objects, fashion items, and traditional dishes designed to reflect West African aesthetics and culinary traditions.
This initiative highlights a growing trend in the gaming industry towards inclusive cultural representation.
The collaboration involved the Pan African Gaming Group (PAGG) and a dedicated team of players.
These players have direct ties to West African nations and personal experiences within the Black diaspora in both the United Kingdom and North America.
The partnership’s goal was to ensure each new item genuinely honors the cultural traditions that inspired its creation.
New furnishings include the Okuta Lamp with Woven Shade and Visions of Home Decorative Art.
Sims can now dress in vibrant jumpsuits, boldly patterned shirts, and printed dresses for children and toddlers, featuring traditional motifs.
Culinary additions include Jollof Rice served with Chicken Thighs and fried plantain.
The update is available across all major platforms: EA app, Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
