The second generation of Apple’s AR/VR headset will arrive in 2025 in two variants

While Apple’s first generation of headphones haven’t been officially announced yet, we’re already hearing rumors about the second generation of the device.

Today, respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo affirms what Apple hopes to launch the second generation of headphones in 2025. Unlike the first generation, which will only have one top model, the second generation will come in two models: a low-end version and a high-end version.

According to Kuo, Luxcaseict, a joint venture of Luxshare and Pegatron, will manufacture the next-generation AR/VR headset. The low-cost model will be manufactured by Foxconn.

We expect Apple headphones arriving in 2023 to have advanced technology, at a hefty price tag. The advertised price is around $3,000.

Therefore, Apple was expected to develop cheaper headphones in the future to achieve significant customer acquisition. It’s still unclear how much cheaper the cheapest model would be. An earlier report stated that Apple’s aim was to cut the price in half to around $1,500.

The first generation of the headset is expected to be unveiled at WWDC in June, with the device expected to go on sale by the end of the year.

It will feature two high-resolution microOLED displays (one for each eye), dozens of built-in cameras and sensors for hand and eye tracking, all powered by the M2 chip. Trademarks indicate that Apple will call the device “Apple Reality Pro”. Due to its high price, Apple Reality Pro is not expected to appeal to the general public.
