The ruler of Oman will go to Iran on an official visit

The ruler of the Sultanate of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, will leave for a two-day official visit to Iran this week.

According to Oman’s official news agency, the visit begins on Sunday after a mutual agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered by China in March.

The report stated that Sultanate of Oman’s ruler Haitham bin Tariq will go to Iran on a two-day official visit, he was invited by the president of Iran.

The report stated that during the visit, discussions are also expected on ways to promote cooperation between the two countries.

The visit comes a year after Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi’s visit to Muscat in which the two countries signed trade agreements.

Oman has close ties with Iran and played a role in mediating the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and Washington.
